When it comes to mobile macro photography,
one thing that can help getting close to the true 1:1 magnification ratio is
– using a phone with a larger sensor.
Knowing the exact size of the sensor makes it possible to figure out the magnification of the image…
but sensor sizes on mobile phones are not so easy to find.
Most sources only list the sensor format and not the actual size of the with or height in millimeters.
This is why I made a list featuring mobile phones with large sensors,
which I find most suitable for mobile macro photography,
and I also provided the width of each sensor in millimeters.
If you are not sure how macro magnification and sensor size are related
– I have a video about measuring macro magnification on a mobile phone,
in which I am explaining why using a device with a large camera sensor is so important.
